TRADING STANDARDS
What the future months have in hold for the Trading Standards service.
Trading Standards has adapted a new approach. We have developed a new Community team. There is one officer covering each sector of the city.
Laura Small - Cosham
Amy Forster - Fratton
Danielle King - Central
Hasina Begum - Southsea
The aim of this team is to get out into the community and help educate the residents of Portsmouth on how to be smarter shoppers.
We attend regular meetings such as neighbourhood forums and residents meetings and give talks about Scams, Cold Calling and your consumer rights.
We hold regular events in the City and these are the ones coming up:
8th September - Police Community Bus in Commercial Road
11th September - Police Community Bus in Cosham high street
14th-18th September - National Consumer week
24th September - Electric blanket testing- Salvation Army Albert Road 9:30-15:00
25th September - Electric blanket testing-Cosham fire station
28th September - 2nd October - Ripped Off In Portsmouth Week
19th- 23rd October - European safety week

We are also keen to recruit new people into our volunteer scheme The EDGE. The volunteers are given training in basic consumer law and can then attend events and meetings with the community trading standards officers.
