Summer Slam!, the NECIP’s holiday programme has been hugely successful. Over 250 children aged between 4 and 15 have enjoyed activities such as High School Musical 2, Summer Safety, craft activities, armour workshops, Yogabugs, dance, cheerleading, Mad Science, circus skills, gymnastics, sports, archery, air rifle shooting, assault course and Oliver! The Musical.
The community project to refurbish the Copsey Path underpass is nearing completion. This has been a fantastic community effort, led by the Police and NECIP with local children and young people painting the underpass with schools, nurseries, art and community groups painting panels that will ultimately create an outdoor art gallery. The official opening is planned with a local celebrity in September. Huge thanks go to the local businesses who supported this project with donations of materials and sponsorship. They will all be acknowledged on the plaque!
The NECIP has secured some funding to enable children and young people from families where paying for out of school and holiday activities may not be affordable, to have access for free. If you are (or know a
family) who may benefit from this initiative, please do get in contact with me.
Plans are underway to develop Children’s Centre services in the area for families with children aged under 5. This means that there will be better support for young families, more drop-in sessions and other activities or services as needed.
