COLD KILLS
Don' t become part of the statistics
Keeping warm in winter can be a matter of life and death for the older generation, which is why Portsmouth City Council is offering free and subsidised central heating and insulation to help everyone keep warm. More than 30,000 people die in England and Wales every year because of the winter cold. The people who die every year as a result of the cold are a hidden tragedy in our communities As older people and those suffering from chronic conditions are most vulnerable to the cold, it could be the people you care for who are most at risk. We can help by providing free or subsidised central heating and insulation but we need you to make sure they take up our offer to keep them safe and warm, this winter and every winter.
If you care for someone you think would benefit, help us by talking to them about the risks they face and persuade them to give us a call on (023) 9283 4092 (City Helpdesk) before the cold weather sets in. Or, if your own home is a little chilly, call us as we can offer help and advice to anyone who has insufficient heating or insulation. What we can offer depends on each individual's needs and circumstances and we'll be able to advise further when you call.
We can arrange for a professional and reputable company to do the work, installation takes just a couple of days and modern efficient central heating costs less to run than you might think.
