Report from Chairman, Patricia Robertson
At the last Forum meeting, at Springfield School, the main theme was resources and sustainability with excellent presentations being given by Southern Water and the Principal Climate Change and Sustainability Co-ordinator. An update on local affairs from the Police point of view by a strong panel evoked lively discussion and we hope to give them more time at a future meeting. The students from Springfield School have a keen interest in the environment and gave a good report of their activities.
During his time as Chairman Tom Morton worked persistently with Tesco and the local authorities to try to resolve the problems and inconvenience caused to the local residents by the Tesco Express store at Farlington. Some delay was caused by having to establish ownership of the land, but as I write this in July, I understand that the City Solicitors are pursuing the matter with hopes of a speedy and successful conclusion. We shall keep you informed through Forum meetings.
There are several groups now working very hard to improve conditions in the area, and by liaising with the Forum there is an excellent opportunity to keep everyone aware of what is happening. We are grateful for the support and interest of our three councillors, and look forward to seeing many of you at the next Forum meeting at Solent Junior School in October.
